Dr. Reddy’s Immune System Boosting Protocol

Dr. Reddy’s Immune System Boosting Protocol

In case you missed it, here’s my Immune System Boosting Protocol. Please start at least some of these things and pass along the info to anyone who you think would benefit. It’s important!

  • Get outside for at least 30 minutes per day. Walk in the grass, listen to the birds, soak up the sun and breathe.
  • Eat lots of colorful fruits and vegetables, load up on antiviral foods and spices such as raw garlic, oregano, ginger, and kimchi
  • Avoid simple sugars and junk food. I know we’re all cooped up and it’s easy to reach for the snack foods, chips, candy, ice cream, etc. This is not the time to consume these things so do your best to minimize them. Your immune system will thank you!
  • Stay well hydrated. Drink at least 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water daily. So if you weigh 120lbs, drink at least 60 oz of water.
  • Vitamin C – 1500 mg twice per day
  • Vitamin D3 – 5000 IU daily
  • Quinton Isotonic – vital ocean minerals that balance your body and cellular function. 1 vial (10ml) 1 – 2x per day
  • Liposomal Glutathione – your body’s most powerful antioxidant that can easily be depleted in times of illness, toxicity and stress. Not all liposomal glutathione products are the same. This is the best one on the market in my opinion. 100 mg twice a day.
  • Melatonin – another important antioxidant and hormone. As we get older we produce less and less. Research is showing that low levels are playing a significant role in how the body responds and recovers from a COVID19 infection. It seems to be part of the reason that younger people have a much easier time. 0.5 to 1 mg per day taken at bedtime should be adequate for prevention. Other ways to increase melatonin include avoiding blue light from screens (TVs, phones, computers, etc.) at night, and by getting outside during the day without sunglasses.
  • Increase Nitric Oxide (NO) production – NO helps your blood circulate. People with low circulation are at risk for pneumonia and other complications. Increasing NO production can be done by eating foods rich in the amino acid arginine* (nuts, seeds, legumes, meat). Nitrate rich foods like beets also can help. Finally, deep breathing has been shown to increase NO as well. Take five to ten deep belly breaths whenever you can. (*If you have Herpes simplex 1 or 2, you should not consume foods high in arginine as that can lead to an outbreak)
  • Contrast Showers – Hydrotherapy is a mainstay of Naturopathic medicine. Simply put, hydrotherapy is the application of heat and cold to the body in order to move the blood and stimulate the immune system. One of the easiest ways to do hydrotherapy is to do a contrast shower. Here’s how it’s done: Start your shower with hot water and stand in the water for 3 minutes. After 3 minutes of hot, turn the water to cold (doesn’t have to be ice cold) for 30 seconds. Repeat this 3 minutes hot, 30 seconds cold for a total of 3 rounds, ending on cold. It may sound difficult but it is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself. If you can’t tolerate cold at first, simply turn the temperature to cool. The bigger the contrast the more impactful the treatment.

Manage your stress.

  • Take deep, relaxed, belly breaths, pray, meditate, etc.
  • Get off social media and turn off the news. Find the balance between being informed vs being inundated. As I remind you all of this, I’m reminding myself too.
  • GABA – This is a neurotransmitter that is extremely helpful during times of stress. I recommend 240 – 250 mg, 1-3x per day as needed.
  • Hemp oil – CBD and THC in hemp oil can support a balance stress response as well. There is quite a bit of newer research demonstrating how it acts in nervous system, brain, and other parts of the body. Dosage depends on the product and the person.
  • Adrenal support – Our adrenal glands are in charge of regulating our flight or fight response and they do a fantastic job. With prolonged stress however they can become fatigued and this makes us more susceptible to illness, including viral infection. There are quite a few products on the market that are really helpful. A couple of my favorites are NanoMojo and Cortisol Manager.
  • Sleep support – We have to have restful sleep during this time, not only so our system can rest, but also adequate sleep supports the function of the immune system. Two products that I recommend for sleep support are LipoCalm and Cortisol Manager.
